Frequently Asked Questions
What should I expect during a bridal consultation?
You will meet with a dedicated bridal stylist that will guide you through our showroom and all of our dresses that are conveniently located for you to look through. Your stylist will be by your side to recommend options based on your preferences and assist with putting on and taking off as many dresses as you desire during your appointment. We allot 2 hours for bridal consultations. You are welcome to bring up to 4 guests with you (or up to 10 with a VIP appointment).
What is the difference between Bridal Reflections’ three locations?
For your convenience Bridal Reflections has three locations each with different price points carrying different designers and styles offering you a wide selection of dresses. Our Fifth Avenue location carries bridal gowns priced from $4,000 to over $20,000, evening wear $1,500+, as well as veils and accessories. Our Long Island location carries bridal gowns priced from $2,000 to $12,000 as well as veils and accessories. The Showroom at Bridal Reflections in Massapequa carries evening wear for the mother of bride, mother of the groom or guest for any occasion starting at $500.
When should I shop for my bridal gown?
We recommend shopping about 9 months to 1 year before your wedding. Normal delivery is 7 to 9 months for most designers.
My wedding date is soon, am I too late to shop?
If your wedding date is quickly approaching we will meet with you and present all of your options including if any designers have a quick turnaround, rush shipping or even the option to purchase one of our samples. Being in business for over 50 years we have close relationships with all of the designers we carry and have never missed a wedding.
Do you have plus size samples?
Yes, we carry many designers with a large variety of sizes from 10 to 24. Including designs from Portrait and Martin Thornburg.
When should I shop for my veil and accessories?
It is ideal to accessorize at the time of your gown purchase when the style of your dress is fresh in your mind. Bridal accessories can include a headpiece, veil, and jewelry. We also host veil and headpiece trunk shows where you can try the sample of your dress on again and select the perfect finishing touches.
When should I shop for my Mother of Bride/Mother of the Groom dress?
You want to allow 4 to 6 months for delivery of your Mother of the Bride or Groom gown.
What is a “See & Try” appointment?
Once you have been notified that we have received your bridal gown we invite you to schedule an appointment to try on your gown. If your wedding date is within the next 2 months then you can simply make your first fitting with us right away.
Do you offer alterations?
Bridal Reflections does all wedding gown alterations on premise. Our seamstresses are experts in their field, and you work with one fitter from beginning to end, ensuring that your fit is perfect. They also specialize in custom work or religious buildups of any kind.
When do I start my alterations?
Fittings usually start anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks away from the wedding depending on your schedule and what is involved in altering your gown. Fittings are by appointment only. Most brides need 2 – 3 fittings.
What do I need for my first fitting?
You must have your shoes and proper bra for all your fittings. We do sell a few different styles of short strapless bras, gel bras and bra cups to be sewn into the gown. We also have slips for under the skirts. If you are providing your own undergarment/bra make sure you have it by the time of the first fitting. We can not do your fitting without your shoes and the proper bra.
