Today’s gowns are steamlined and slinky, reports RoseLynn Fiumara, owner of Bridal Reflections of Massapequa, Carle Place and New York City. “We still do our ball gowns, but what we’re getting asked for more now are elaborate, sheer backs with lacy details– very fitted, even in plus sizes.”
There’s no need to hide behind rolls of extra fabric, she notes. Sleek, tight-to-the-body looks are appropriate and flattering for women of all shapes. “When you put it on the right figure, it’s actually more slenderizing than having so much dress.”
